“La Rentrée” in Paris
Summer is coming to a close, fall is setting in, Paris continues it’s constant effervescence offering it’s inhabitants multiple opportunities to live the “rentrée” or Back to School season at full speed. Paris likes to be innovative and for those tempted to experience the city of lights in a different way here is a selection of events and place to visit.
To have a drink in a completely crazy place, try the Urgence Bar which is located next to the school of medicine in St. Germain. Drinks are served here baby bottle style by waiters dressed as first responders in a hospital atmosphere complete with x-rays hanging on the walls with your tab coming as a hospital bill. Cocktails are affordable at 10 Euros and the dance floor is open until 4 am….

In a different style, there’s the Ice Kube, which like it’s name suggests is a bar where sofas and decor are entirely made of ice. Stop by Moncler first for your parka because the temperature inside the bar is a very chilling -10 degrees!

Also in fashion is Kiff by Olga. A fashion brand using artisanal techniques in which the designer collects discontinued fabrics to develop a vintage clothing line. She uses drawing techniques modeling on a mannequin, and computer graphics to obtain surprising shapes, each one perfectly adapted to the client.
After fashion, there’s Contemporary art, which is often linked in everyone’s mind as a particular social category: intellectuals and bobos. To rid oneself of any preconceived ideas, check out all the comtemporary art galleries that are flourishing outside of the city center. In Saint- Ouen, a cultural center called “Les Mains d’oeuvres” has been developed. This gallery offers a program of participation and an opening to experimentation thanks to the “Food’Art” sessions.

We’ll finish with the expo “Sonic” from Hedi Slimane which pays tribute to Rock n Roll culture. The photographer who is also DA of fashion house Saint Laurent offers clichés that retrace fifteen years of music archives. Lou Reed, Amy Winehouse, Marilyn Manson, James Edwar Bagshaw or Keith Richards wait for you from the 18th of septmeber 2014 to the 11th of January 2015 at the Foundation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent.
