Holiday party season is here! There are the office parties, the friends’ get togethers and of course New Year’s Eve, many special moments to share. It’s also a busy time of year and you may not have time to experiment with makeup, but why not give yourself that extra special sparkle and glow you see on celebrities on the red carpet!
Sparkle doesn’t have to mean glitter and Vegas! It can still be chic and subtle, enhancing your features as though you were candlelit. Anyway, holiday parties are usually evening affairs so you don’t need to worry about sparkling in broad daylight!
HOW TO GET YOUR SPARKLE ON
Mix a few drops of liquid luminizer with your foundation for an all over sheen and soft sparkle that will catch the light. Do this as well for your décolleté and shoulders if they will be showing. I am a big fan of Becca’s shimmering skin perfector, and they also come in a small trio set of champagne gold, pearl and opal so you can find the perfect match for your skin tone. Since you only need a small amount is just the right size. (great to slip in your clutch for the evening as well- try highlighting the cupid’s bow of the lips and watch out for mistletoe!)
Give your black liner the night off and go for a liquid liner in silver, gold or rose gold. Leave your lids bare and follow with lashings of black mascara. You can pair this with your favorite red lip since it is subtle enough or a pinky- nude lip with a bit of shine to it. I am currently crushing on Inglot’s long lasting liquid liners which come in silver, gold, rose gold and at $12, won’t break the bank.
You can take your sparkle a step further using the same liquid eyeliner, draw all over the lid. Before it dries blend quickly with your finger for an all over lid glow. Add a thin black liner and you are ready to shine.
