With all the emphasis these last seasons on thick full brows, some of us are left wondering how we can ever make our brows look fuller. Whether we have naturally sparse eyebrows, spent years over plucking or have noticed our brows thinning as we age, a bit of fullness in the brow area can make us appear more youthful.
Eyebrow pencils are great to fill in brows but may wear off over the day as pencil is wax based and mixed with the oil of the skin can fade as the day progresses. Powder is also a good choice but is a little more tricky to execute and powder alone can not replicate missing parts of the brow (on my clients I would use a combination of both for very thin brows, pencil first to define and powder to make it look more natural.)
One of the genius brow tools I always keep in my pro kit now is the brow pen. This pen with a very fine tip applicator allows you to make feather-like strokes which mimic real brow hairs. I find this the best and most natural option for those who are missing the ends of the brows or the brows are very sparse. The newest pens have really great shades to match all brows colors. Another reason I love them is that they are waterproof. Perfect for hot, humid days, or even long days of work when you don’t want your brows to disappear by lunch.
It may seem like a complicated makeup application, but is actually very quick and easy with a little practice. Use the pen to draw quick upward strokes in the direction of the brow growth, then brush through with a brow brush, that’s it!
At the moment the pens I use in my kit are from Anastasia Brows, but other great options with great shades include the new ones from Lancôme , MAC and Nyx.
