OMG my Spanx…

A few days ago Colleen and I had a business meeting about the blog and our new e-shop … Have you seen it?

So we reviewed our datelines, agenda and so one. Then out of the blue we started to discuss  other topics, you know how it is: up coming holidays, end of classes, end of cycle for some students, field trips, “Prom” (THE famous one). And from there, we rambled on about Spanx!  I imagine some of you glancing at this with wide eyes; what is it, what are we talking about here?  Especially you French ladies, this phenomenon hasn’t spread yet to France! Well, Spanx is actually the redesign of the corsets our great-grandmothers wore revised and corrected by the US. A variety of sheaths that imprison our figures to obviously refine our body while we wear tight dresses and other upscale outfits for very dressy evenings !!

And then, my dear Colleen, model in another life, who still has a good figure annoyingly, tells me with many details and varied explicit facial expressions that during a photo-shoot, she had been forced to fit into one of these torturous things or would have to breach her contract! On my side I tried to picture my dear partner so tiny, dying, trapped in this vice which cut off her breath but please! It still had the good measure to lift her boobs …. At this point, things get really interesting : certainly suffering discomfort, but getting for the same price an – almost natural – push up, a refined and perfect slim figure, and finally so tight that you won’t be able to eat a bite during the evening… In fact Spanx is just that! Then I reconnected to Colleen’s explanations who seemed desperate just by remembering these times of discomfort, feeling like a sardine stuck in her box, minus the smell of course!

Since then I went to sniff and spy the offending garment, but I have not yet taken the plunge … Maybe on my next shopping afternoon …

Actually, Colleen told me that all americans are wearing Spanx for special occasions !!! ( the red carpet is a sea of Spanx, said one famous stylist)
